Fall 2021 Attitudes toward the environment
GEOGRAPHY 4230
Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from Thompson Rivers university to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students in this program examine the cultural attitudes that have influenced land use and environmental change in the past and present. They also examine the environmental movement, environmental conflict, and environmental policy, including sustainable development. Students follow a historical and cross-cultural approach -- many examples involve contrasting attitudes in “The West” with those of Japan and the rest of Asia.
Sustainable Rural Development
GEOGRAPHY 3510
In this project, students will focus on themes in rural geography, including land use issues, small settlements and society, agriculture, tourism and other industries, rural administration, service provision, and the effect of socio-economic processes such as urbanization and globalization. Through this lens, the students will tackle a related challenge that your organization is facing. Upon completion of the project, you will receive a detailed report and presentation.
