University Canada West is a contemporary independent university located in the heart of vibrant Vancouver. Established in 2004, UCW offers a range of career-focused programs including the Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication, Associate of Arts and Master of Business Administration. Courses are offered at our downtown Vancouver campus and online too. Is your business experiencing challenges around strategic positioning in a competitive landscape? MBA students at the University Canada West are prepared to analyze your key business challenges, and provide actionable recommendations. Students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. The teams will apply their diverse entrepreneurial knowledge as students with critical analyses/strategies/design skills to develop ideas in your organization. The teams will complete an analysis, provide strategic recommendations and practical options, and recommend an action plan appropriate to your business situation in consultation with you. As a participating organization, you will provide a specific question, business issue/ challenge, or opportunity that will be the focus of the student team review.

Small Business Management Capstone
BUSI 660
Are you experiencing a finance, marketing, operation or HR related challenge in your current business processes? Consult with graduate level MBA students completing this capstone level course at The University of Canada West. The course has a strong analytical, applied, and experiential orientation. Students work in groups of 4-5 to focus on a challenge/opportunity for the business. The students' process - and ultimate deliverable will include a current analysis of the business, problem or opportunity identification, research (as applicable), recommended solutions/strategy with implementation plan, budget and finally, risk identification and mitigation strategies (again, as applicable). The project can be for a Canadian business of any size, however enterprises run by solo-preneurs would probably not provide the necessary scope.

Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from University Canada West to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students in this program wish to understand contemporary organizations, their work culture and the role of HR within the Canadian workplace. Taking an applied approach students create and design strategies, policies, procedures, systems, and structures, required to successfully operate in a business context. Students also critically examine the key OBHR tools considered as set of business “best practices” to support and advise managers/leaders, employees to be successful in the Canadian work environment.
