research data analytics policy evaluation education policy social justiceThe Experience More initiative at Thompson Rivers University is seeking proposals for several 12-14 week projects from a variety of organizations that have project needs in the fields of Social Justice, Educational Policy, Sustainability. Organizations need only to present their real-world problems to solve and groups of Master of Arts and Master of Education Students. Students or individual students will select the projects to work on for the term of the experiential learning opportunity.
Bring on teams of 2 students from Thompson Rivers University enrolled in the Experience More initiative to work with you in a project-based experience. Students are available for a maximum of 30-50 hours (over the duration of the course) for the project.
Learners
Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the project. The student should complete 30-50 hours with your organization by the end of the project.
Typical final project deliverables could include:
- Final project report
- Completed data sets for unique project goals
- Final presentations and supporting documents, manuals, etc.

Requirements
Master of Arts students in TRU's Experience More Program come from diverse academic backgrounds and are eager to contribute to meaningful projects aligned with your organization’s goals in social justice, education, and sustainability.
These students are equipped with advanced skills and a passion for creating positive societal impact. Below are examples of projects they can help you with:
1. Social Justice Research and Advocacy:
- Conduct in-depth research on social justice issues relevant to your organization, including equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives.
- Analyze policies and recommend strategies for promoting fairness, equality, and human rights.
- Develop advocacy campaigns or educational materials to raise awareness and drive change.
- Best suited for: Non-profits, community organizations, government bodies, and advocacy groups.
2. Educational Program Development:
- Design and develop curriculum or educational materials that align with your organizational mission.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Assist with creating outreach initiatives aimed at increasing access to education for underrepresented groups.
- Best suited for: Schools, non-profits, educational institutions, and community outreach programs.
3. Sustainability Projects and Research:
- Conduct sustainability assessments, including environmental impact studies and resource efficiency analyses.
- Develop strategies for integrating sustainable practices into your organization’s operations.
- Research and recommend solutions to advance environmental justice and climate action efforts.
- Best suited for: Environmental organizations, corporate sustainability departments, local government, and green economy sectors.
Additional company criteria
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Commit to completing a short formative (midpoint) survey and summative (final) survey for the overseeing Experiential Learning Coordiantor at Thompson Rivers University
Virtual work engagement with students and provision of all necessary materials in order to set students up for project execution success, including any relevant context, data, examples of deliverables.
Commitment to providing feedback on project milestones (Project Plan, Draft Deliverable, Final Project Deliverable) and virtual attendance at students’ final project presentation.
Provide a dedicated contact to answer occasional emails or phone calls to address significant student questions in a timely manner (a 48 hour-response time.)
Be available for a quick phone call with the Thompson Rivers University Experiential Learning Coordinator to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course and explore additional opportunities for partnership with the University.
Commit to a minimum of one hour per week, over 10-14 weeks’ worth of interactions with your assigned student team remotely. These meetings with you are likely to question/answer sessions or requests for additional information or clarification based on project content.
